NKFI Project

Research and development funding provided by NKFI, which supports SMP’s smart office integration platform.

Project overview

SMP Solutions Zrt. submitted a proposal entitled “Development of a smart office integration platform”, as a result of which it received a grant of nearly 300 million forints from the Hungarian National Research, Development and Innovation Fund (NKFI). The smart office platform is a state-of-the-art building IT development that integrates building management systems available on the market onto a single shared platform, thereby enabling them to be easily interconnected with one another and with other corporate IT systems.

The development increases the efficiency of building utilisation, expands the range of information and communication technologies available, and improves user satisfaction – which, in turn, helps to retain staff and attract young talent.

The platform offers much more than that: as well as improving the efficiency of office buildings, it also significantly reduces harmful emissions and, by promoting working from home and remote working, helps to alleviate the environmental impact of commuting.

Software products and services developed as part of the project

  • Application integration — linking the systems used to operate the office building with the company’s own IT systems so that they can communicate with one another and work together; Information and rules that span across these systems facilitate more efficient use of the building and provide a modern experience for staff and visitors.
  • Mobile navigation — floor-plan-based mobile navigation enables users to search for colleagues’ workstations, meeting rooms and other important locations, and provides step-by-step directions to help them find their way there.
  • Visitor management — automatic check-in and the provision of appropriate access rights for partners and visitors working temporarily in the office, through the integration of specialised systems and the implementation of automated processes.
  • Parking assistance — efficient, dynamic space allocation with real-time occupancy displays; the user experience is enhanced by access based on number plate recognition and guidance along the optimal route to a parking space.
  • Meeting room management — a mobile app helps to make more efficient use of meeting rooms.
  • Asset management — location-based tracking of office equipment, and the sending of alerts should an item be removed from the office.
  • Facility management — requests and fault reports submitted via the mobile app, complete with precise location details and attached photographs, enable the building’s operations to be tailored to its actual use.
  • Support for HR processes — we assist with staff check-in and check-out procedures by providing on-site guidance, making it easier to manage the scheduling of work in the office and from home.
  • Reports and analyses — data generated during the operation of the building is collected and analysed, which helps to ensure more efficient operation and facilitates future planning.
