Budai Egészségközpont
During the modernisation of the Buda Health Centre and the National Spine Centre, Complex SMP Solutions contributed to the creation of a modern, safe and reliable hospital environment through IT security and audiovisual solutions. The BEK also serves as a live operational reference for the SMP MyHealth platform, where digital queue management, indoor navigation, biometric check-in and automatic appointment rebooking support day-to-day clinical operations.
The tasks and challenges facing SMP Solutions Ltd.
From January 2025 to April 2026, our design, preparation and construction teams carried out a near-complete low-voltage refurbishment of the existing Building A and Building B wings, which are nearly 100 and 50 years old respectively. As a result of our colleagues’ dedicated work, the buildings were successfully handed over in technical terms and transferred into our possession – in several phases – by May 2026.
One of the greatest challenges of the project was that the refurbishment work had to be carried out whilst the healthcare facility remained partially operational and continued to provide services. In parallel with the architectural and mechanical engineering works, a comprehensive modernisation and installation of the complex low-voltage systems was carried out.
Low-voltage systems installed:
- System IT (passive and active): 10 rack cabinets, 93 km of Corning Cat6A copper cabling, 2,400 m of fibre-optic cable, nearly 1,500 endpoints, D-Link/Cisco active equipment
- Coaxial network: 80 endpoints
- Access Control and Intrusion Detection System: ATS Advanced System with C4 graphical monitoring
- CCTV system: IP-based Hikvision system comprising 129 cameras and 3 network IP recorders.
- Nurse call system: 245 call points throughout the building
- Audiovisual system: Public address system for building information
- Underground network: a route comprising 20 N1 and 4 Jet-vill manholes and protective conduits, including earthworks, which provides low-voltage connections between the buildings.
- Fire alarm system: Following consultations with the relevant authorities, a new fire alarm system has been installed throughout the entire area of Buildings A and B.
The successful handover of the fire alarm system to the authorities in May 2026 was a milestone of outstanding significance for both the Client and the Contractors.
The MyHealth patient app is available on iOS and Android, and is integrated with the healthcare provider’s appointment booking and hospital information systems. Patients check in digitally, use an indoor map to find their way around the facility, and manage their appointments from their phones — including automatic rebooking.
What's next
According to the development roadmap, the system will be expanded to include a AI-based healthcare assistant, deeper EESZT/DÁP integration and a telemedicine module.
Continued – Building C:
The project did not end there: in the next phase, running until spring 2027, the entirely new, 8-storey ‘C’ wing will be constructed. SMP’s task in this building is also to install the complete low-voltage system, which will be supplemented by:
- with a three-storey underground car park, a CO detection system,
- Emergency public address system,
- as well as the implementation of the EDR system.
